Breeding Goldfish (PT 2)

Goldfish care is an exciting part of being a goldfish hobbyist, because of the
numbers choices among Goldfish varieties. Goldfish cover a wide range of
species, but all belonging to the family Carassius auratus. The Asians, such
Ask Japanese, Koreans, Chinese are the official known breeders of goldfish.

List contains brief details on what you need to know to breed goldfish as bait
#1- the gender of the goldfish is hard to determine, the sexual features of a
goldfish are only easily distinguished during spawning, the male goldfish
Tips to have breeding tubercles that appear as white pimples on the fins
And sometimes on their heads, but they are very hard to see on either place.

Goldfish should not be bred till they are at least 3 years old, the gender of the
fish is still difficult to determine until it reaches at least 8 cm in length in size
Buying a new goldfish in stores you won't be able to choose a male or female
since they are still small and even sellers don't even know which is which. 😕

Breeding goldfish is considered a long-term goal since you have to wait for
the fish to grow to proper size in age to determine the sex before you proceed
to breeding them. Breeding can be induced by the change in the temperature
of the water the goldfish are in, whether it be fish tank or a stock pond tanks.

Goldfish usually breed at 50 to 79 degrees but more often at exactly 68 degrees
You can force the fish to spawn by waiting for a more moderate temperature
The weather May trigger breeding or you can create your own breeding
environment by manipulating an increase in the water temperature. 💧

The majority of goldfish breeders keep more male goldfish in tanks than
females to ensure greater success in the breeding process ratio is 2 to 1🐟
You should bear in mind the East goldfish needs 15 gallons of water space
It's not advisable to overcrowd a goldfish tank or pond for breeding success.

The males is game for battle when it's in spawning Chase, of the females
What's happens for several hours & only if the water conditions are right
While they are together for a few days, the female lays her eggs in batches
Containing 1000 to 1500 eggs per batch per female that the male mates.

The first batch has the highest hatching success rate once the eggs is laid
The males then spray milt all over the eggs to fertilize them. for more fish.

I'm learning as I go with this, so as time goes by I can get better at breeding
to produce more for fish bait profit from stores & people who love to fish &
with 2 fishing area's in my area & 3-4 bait stores I may be able to move them.

Being I love fishing, I have a few ideas on how to get this out to the others 👍
if I can get this going  but this is going to take time to build it where I have
plenty to sell to others, & once I get enough produced I'll be on my mission.

Being there's not a lot of info on this, I have to do all that I can do to make
this go with what info I can get online through videos & any other outlets I
can find or what I can think of on my own, the same way I did with guppies.

Raising Goldfish on a budget "Fishing in the dark" (PT 1)

I guess you're wondering what is this all about ? well my friend
it's all about a little of both, raising goldfish & fishing in the dark.

So what's 1 got to do with the other you ask ? GOOD QUESTION
well this will be a blog about raising Goldfish & fishing in the dark.

What has fishing in the dark got to do with Goldfish you ask ? well
did you know that fishing with Goldfish are good catfish bait? yea
& most people love fishing at night for catfish with Goldfish bait.

So here is the reason why people use Goldfish for catfish bait, color
catfish feed more at night cause they are less detected by other fish
& Goldfish can be seen a lot better at night & catfish love them.

Here are some facts about why anglers love using Goldfish for bait
& you can almost guess most of the reasons but here you have a
good list to know All the facts about the subject at hand on here.

#1 cheap: it is true that goldfish are not that expensive you sure
can you find a store that sells $3 or a dozen goldfish, it's not
exactly the cheapest option considering there are other cheaper
live
bait, it is definitely affordable for most Anglers.

#2 Easy to find: just go to any tackle shop and you may not have
quite an easy time finding a great live bait. But if you just go to
a pet store or a large shopping chain, there are many types of
Goldfish you can find. It is too easy to buy goldfish, making them
quite appealing to anglers in search of a decent live bait to use.

#3 bright attractive colors: as it was mentioned earlier goldfish come
in a variety of colors. Just makes them quite attractive and appealing to
big predators. With their enticing yellow or bright orange bodies, they
Are impossible to miss. Another thing- they offer great action when
placed on a hook, as well as those common minnow baits angler use.

#4 they last for a long time. No matter what form of stress or condition
Goldfish can handle it pretty well for the most part of it. As long as you
keep them well-fed in the Bait Bucket, they will be good to go. Even on
a hook they can sustain stress better than Minnows do in a bucket.
Just remember to put a Air Stone in with them for the air,
every
few hours change the  water out with fresh CLEAN water

It is legal to use goldfish as bait in Arizona, Alabama, Indiana,
Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. in West Virginia
You can use goldfish as long as they are dead Pennsylvania is subject
to a minimum fine of $120 if your caught using goldfish as bait.

Here are a list of states that is illegal to use goldfish as bait.
Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky,
Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire
New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Wyoming.

What fish eat Goldfish as bait? Bass large and small, catfish, crappie,
Trout, walleye,

Not only do Goldfish make a good bait, but is a easy fish to raise too
They are a prolific spawning fish that is also great for bait to raise
so what am I thinking? raising Goldfish for live bait, will it be worth
it? not sure but sure worth a try if I can get them to spawn for me.

This is not to say it's as easy as it shows it to be, but to let you know how
It can be easy to do with just a little work & time and a lot of patience
This is another way I can breed  goldfish where do I can have plenty of fry

So there is my idea what I'm doing as far as raising goldfish for bait & Being
I live not far from a lake and a park that people like to fish in, I think this is a
Great idea to start doing to raise a little side money for fish food other things.

I have a friend it has a yard with no trees that I can put a decent-sized pond
Is, his yard which I think would be another good idea cuz I have too many trees
He is not that far from me that I can go once a week to check on them and so on.

Today's date is 11-1-20/20 and up here in Indiana, it's starting to show winter isn't
that far away. So this is my time to start planning how to do this before spring, but
During the winter season, I will start raising them in the cabin to see how it goes.

With what extra Goldfish I get from the winter season of working with them
If I have any luck at all during the winter I will take what extra goldfish I get
And I will start the new pond  over at my friend's house & see how it goes.

Because what I am looking for is a good batch of goldfish I start out with
next year, right now all I have is 5 goldfish so maybe that will be a good start to
Get going and go from there I have them in 110 gallon stock tank for right now.

So we'll go with what we got see how it does I have another Pond tank outside
That is a triangle shape which is actually a tub that I can use for the five
goldfish that I have and see how they do after I rearrange things in here.

I have a lot of work to be done to get things set up to get this going right if I plan
on making this work the way I'm looking at it and what I'm planning on doing
I have 3- 55 gallon tanks that I have to empty and move out of the area I need.

So with all that said and explained on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it I'll
Let you go for now and keep you updated on how things are going with it all, it
Won't all be on this one page there will be several pages on how things are going.

Thank you for your time & your responses thoughts and wishes I really appreciate
that, and if you have any ideas towards the subject or topic, please feel free & drop
them in the comment box below, as I could use all the help from other breeders.
