Update with the 75 gal aquarium

I redone it a few weeks ago with changing out the substrate from sand to gravel
I took out all the black diamond blasting sand & replaced it with river rock &
pea gravel & crush coral, the reason for changing the substrate out was the sand
wasn't letting the left over food & waste get down to the roots of the plants.

The plants feed from the food & waste in the tank to grow & that's why I decided
to change the substrate where it can work down to the roots, so since I did that
the plants look a lot better & the water is a lot cleaner, & I've added a few new
fish as well & getting more in a few weeks, but what I have now is 3 new mollies.

What new fish I'm getting is rainbow shiners, & they will be with what zebra
danio's I have & 3Cory catfish & 3 nerite snails that keeps the floor & walls clean
& I also took the canister filter off & replaced it with 2-100 gph hang on backs
Filters, & they have been a big help on keeping the water moving & circulated.

As for keeping the tank clean & fish safe, I clean the filters every other week
& vacuum once a month, being the fish are small there's not a lot of waste to
really worry about fouling the water & what waste that accumulates isn't heavy.

I do top off the tank every other week if it needs it, I don't chase the water levels
as in testing the water for nitrates & so forth, the main thing I have the aquarium
for is to grow plant's to sell, the fish are just for the waste they produce to help feed
the plants, I also use easy green & root capsules, & that's an extra boost for them.

I'm hoping that the plant's will get big enough to sell off the extra plant's they will
produce so I can keep the main mother plant's, the plant's I have going right now
is mostly stem plant's, Java Ferns, Octopus plant's, Amazon Swords, twain lilies
Jungle Val, Bacopa, all my plant's will produce extra plant's & they will be sellers.

This is what the aquarium looked like B-4 I redone it with what plant's I had &
the black diamond blasting sand, & what it looks like now is a 100 X's better, I'll
get a photo of what it looks like now after the upgrade I've done with it, looks 👍
It has that more natural look to it & the fish I have love the high flow the hob's
give that gives more oxygen to the plant's & it is all coming together FINALLY
It's been a up hill climb trying to get this going, & now I have it like I need it. ✋hi-5
What I'm looking at is when the plant's get as tall as the tank is when I can enjoy.

New canister filter for 75 gal

This is a short video of how I've got my 75 gal aquarium set up, I've been
experimenting on different type filters for this aquarium & I think I just
found it, So there's not a lot to talk about on this but, if your interested in
fish & filters + a whole lot more, leave a comment, I do a lot of DIY's &
this has been my project since I got the aquarium & tickled pink with it.

I live in a 24 X 24ft cabin in the woods & there's nothing else to do to have
something to do, so I made my aquarium into my goal to growing plant's
Well it's going, but not like I expected it to go, but I'll get there it takes  ⏰

If you watched the video you seen the stock tank, that has 9 goldfish
they have been in there for the past 2 yrs & now they need another area
to go into, I have this pond I've been working on JUST FOR THEM.

I have a video of that as well I can share with you but that will be in
another blog but anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video & I see you
soon, take care, stay safe,

😱 OH MY LORD !, I have never done this-TILL NOW

For those that has or had goldfish, then you might know
a little more then some or most of us, but if you wish to
leave a comment, it never hurts to help others out with
what ever info you can share is welcomed, thank you.

The photo of the stock tank I use for 9 goldfish no gravel
this stock tank is 4ft L X 3ft W X 2-1/2 ft DEEP IF FULL
I Keep MINE About 2FT in water, so they don't jump out
& since I NOW have a good screen over them & inside &
have better attendance to them & I get to enjoy them more.

Being I "had" my goldfish on my back deck & the temperature got over
90 Degrees & the tank water got up to 85, well I panicked & brought them inside
so that meant breaking down the tank & re-set it BACK UP AGAIN & being the
way I have to haul water & fill tanks it takes most the day.

So when I went to go check on them there was this yellow-ish stuff
all over the matten filter I made for it about 2 weeks ago or so
&
when I seen we had a heatwave, I had to do something &
the race was on while we got a break in the temps I broke
into action & started rearranging a spot to put them.

My fish range anywhere from 4 to 8 inches, I've had them going on 2 yrs
& just like the rest of my pets their my babies & put a lot of $ in them
not to mention time & learning as I go & when I went to break the tank down
& got to looking at what was on the filter pads & I took 1 off &  YEP
SURE ENOUGH it's my 1st batch of goldfish eggs.

I'm not prepared to have a hatchery where I live, But being things have
away of working out somewhere down the road if you have faith in
god almighty & that being said this was the whole Idea of raising
goldfish on a budget & that's what I have been doing & well now
it's moved to the NEXT LEVEL of breeding so I have a idea
after I learn a little more about this subject for next time.

I watch a bunch of videos on goldfish & I learn
a lot about raising goldfish, they are a awesome fish to have
so I found this video about how to breed them, this is
super easy when you want to make something out of it.

I have 2-110 gal stock tanks & I could start the fry in the 2nd 1
with as many as I seen, I could have saved at least a 100+ maybe
you never know till you try right? well now I know my fish
is old enough to breed & spawn, I'll be working on that next year.

I have what it takes to go after what I want in life & do my
hardest to get it the best way I know how, till I get it . . .
I'm hard headed when I set my mind to it, you can
mark my words I'll get it done, cause God almighty
tells me & shows me he has things working for me.

So when I say I'm going to do something I'm on it like a hot potato
cause that's what life is all about, & being I've gotten to the point
where my goldfish are spawning I'm TICKLED PINK about it.

I will see if what is in the stock tank will make it or not & if
they do AWESOME POSSUM I won't have to take them out
the next time cause I feed mine 2-3 X's  a day so they "shouldn't"
eat their eggs or fry & if they do then I'll have to be ready is all.

The colors of nature in the eyes of the beholder above

Plant's & trees bushes & shrubs in wet & dry land can really
create a yard of AWESOMENESS when you visualize it 1st
I don't start something B-4 I vision what I'm thinking about.

I love ponds & flowers & nature & the outdoors of Gods
world, I use to have 3 acres back in the 80's till 2008 came
along & TOOK IT !! " housing market crash" look it up.

Well we ended up in the woods & on a mound of property
that we JUST got paid off 3 months ago 65.000$ & it's now
2022 & EVERYTHING IS OUT OF WACK with Biden pres.

So that killed us to sell the place we have & to buy another 1
as bad as we NEED to get another place at our age & health
so I've been thinking about a few things for the future we got.

Just make some bog planters & raise fish & sell aquatic plant's
we have our sights on a place, but right now we can't sell our
place to get it & don't have the $ in the bank & we're STUCK.

So I'm checking out some plant's that love water {fish water}
they won't need power or filters or even fish if you don't want
fish with the plant's & living on a slopped yard helps a lot. 👍

Here are some of the water plants I'm looking at getting if I can
find them, this is a  chameleon plant look at them colors.

here is the search link for the plant

This is a sweet flag plant that also is bog tolerant
which would look Awesome where it can be seen

The Fascinating Wildlife in Deep Mountain Lakes

This has the greatest shots of the underwater life any 1 could ask for
the over head shots are just AWESOME, if I had the $ to move there
I wouldn't waste no time & love every day.
This is also a great video to learn about how certain fish live & survive &
if you pay attention to the area the fish live like how the water looks &
what's around in the shot you see. the plants & moss, twigs branches, &
the substrate their in & vision your own wild fish to raise for food. Hum?

working on a mission

Well winter is gone & the work begins on getting the 110 gal stock tank outside
on the back deck & set back up again from being in the cabin all year yippee ! ! !
just to let you in on what it takes to break down & set up a 110 gal stock tank
it takes dedication hard work & MOST OF THE DAY, just emptying the tank
catching the fish & getting them in a safe container for a few hrs is a job alone.

Once that's all done & situated, then comes the real fun & that's to get what water
that's in the tank out & put in ANOTHER container to use for the main stock tank
that the fish will go back into once it's emptied & set back up again cause I need
the stand it sits on, so a few hrs of getting the water out & getting the stand to put
the stock tank on then I have to start putting the water back in from the other tank.

So while the water was sitting outside in the sun it warmed it up a little bit & I
took what water was in the 1st tank (warm water) put it in the main tank they
were in & it filed it 1/2 way cause the rest of the water that I took out went into
the container the fish were in while I set their tank back up to put them back in
once the main tank had water in it where I could put the fish in that's what I did.

I made a video on my tablet but I can't figure out how to get it to my gmail that
I have on my computer, BUT I will figure it out & show it on here for you to 👀
cause that was the whole Idea of getting a tablet in the 1st place. But if I can't get
it to go on my computer from the table then there's other ways of getting it done
where there's a will there's a way as the ole saying goes so that's just how it is.

But now that I have the stock tank out I can work on the other mission I have
on my mind & that's to rearrange my living area in the cabin where my tv &
computer is & set up the 75 gal aquarium where it will be a show tank to video
& the videos I do will go on my you tube channel & will have info about plant's
and tanks along with all sorts of other info about fish & filtration, substrate & ?

So if your into this kind of thing your more than welcome to follow along with
me, my you tube channel on raising fish you can hit this link to subscribe to it
Raising goldfish on a budget < this is my you tube channel where I video what
I have been doing with the guppies I was raising then went to goldfish to work
with to start growing aquatic plant's to set up another guppy pond for indoors.

That's about all I got for now till I get the other mission I want to get done
started & finished where I'll have everything done that will take a few days
to get everything in place & going & hopefully by the time winter shows back
up again I'll have the stock tank outside wrapped around to protect it from
freezing without having to bring them back in again, & redo it next year.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, here I am 5-13-22 & have been really working HARD TO get the
mission at hand done, I'm about 1/2 there at this point so far & now it's GO
TIME for what's left that needs to get done & that's getting the 75 gal tank
painted (back & ends) cause I got the diy stand made, the overhead cabinet
done with the light attached under it, & once the tank is on the stand I'LL BE
SO SO  happy & relived it's off the floor & on the stand & ready to work on
getting the plant's in it, I'll have a video with everything I've been working on.

It's going to be a LONG DAY when I get started on getting the plants out of
the 30 gal aquarium to go in the 75 gal aquarium so they have more water area
to grow & I got the fert tabs to put in the planter bottles to help them to grow.

This is just temporary to get the plants as big as I can & it may be till next yr
B-4 I do anything else with the rest of the mission I'm working on right now
but for the time being I'll be working on growing aquatic plant's for part 2
of the mission ONCE I KNOW the goldfish are safe to live outside over winter.

So once I got that out of the way & the plants in place & all is GOOD I'll be
putting the rest of my mission into action with setting up a guppy tank to get
back into them again, that's why I'm rearranging the cabin AGAIN, so I can
have a place to put them once I get the tv-computer table in place so I can
see just what space I have at the end of the tv-computer table on 1 wall.

I don't want any fish in the aquarium with the plants so I don't have to try &
catch them this is why I am working on them being in a tank without plant's
cause when the plants are BIG ENOUGH & I have enough of them I'll put
the BIGGER plant's in a 110 gal stock tank & all the guppies to be a breeding
tank & the smaller plant's in the aquarium will be seller plant's to work with.

What has been going on with the goldfish ?

Well not much has been going on with the goldfish as much as everything else
around the world like no tomorrow, but we won't go there either wrong blog.

I can say they have grown & I just brought them in from the outside stock tank
& my orange & black goldfish is losing it's black & turning all orange on me.

I'm glad I have them back inside so I can keep a eye on them & watch them
grow, they may not be old enough to breed yet but maybe I may get lucky.

But on ANOTHER note while I wait for the goldfish to get of age to breed
I started another stock tank with the wild fish we catch to eat to clean out.

So Far the only fish that I 've been able to grow is brim & creek chubs,
I've tried catfish, perch, bass & it's not working but carp does good. hum?

That may change next year who knows, I'm not giving up cause raising
the fish I can catch for a few months is cleaning them out from a wild
taste to stock  pond fed with clear clean water & fed goldfish food &
freeze dried worms & shrimp, it takes a few days to convert them over
but at some time they will start eating unless they refuse to eat at all.

Right now I've managed to keep 4-5 so far for any length of time &
growing good & I have them in a 30 gal LONG aquarium with a few
chubs my neighbor caught for me & their all doing good together.

I may put them in a 55 gal next year, depends on how fast they will
grow & how dirty the tank gets but I do have a carp in both tanks
the stock tank & the 30 gal, cause they are a good bottom feeder.

I'm not going to hold you up just thought I'd drop a post about
what's going on with the goldfish so I'll let you go till next time
Thank You for stopping by have a great safe day-evening bye 👋

Breeding Goldfish (PT 2)

Goldfish care is an exciting part of being a goldfish hobbyist, because of the
numbers choices among Goldfish varieties. Goldfish cover a wide range of
species, but all belonging to the family Carassius auratus. The Asians, such
Ask Japanese, Koreans, Chinese are the official known breeders of goldfish.

List contains brief details on what you need to know to breed goldfish as bait
#1- the gender of the goldfish is hard to determine, the sexual features of a
goldfish are only easily distinguished during spawning, the male goldfish
Tips to have breeding tubercles that appear as white pimples on the fins
And sometimes on their heads, but they are very hard to see on either place.

Goldfish should not be bred till they are at least 3 years old, the gender of the
fish is still difficult to determine until it reaches at least 8 cm in length in size
Buying a new goldfish in stores you won't be able to choose a male or female
since they are still small and even sellers don't even know which is which. 😕

Breeding goldfish is considered a long-term goal since you have to wait for
the fish to grow to proper size in age to determine the sex before you proceed
to breeding them. Breeding can be induced by the change in the temperature
of the water the goldfish are in, whether it be fish tank or a stock pond tanks.

Goldfish usually breed at 50 to 79 degrees but more often at exactly 68 degrees
You can force the fish to spawn by waiting for a more moderate temperature
The weather May trigger breeding or you can create your own breeding
environment by manipulating an increase in the water temperature. 💧

The majority of goldfish breeders keep more male goldfish in tanks than
females to ensure greater success in the breeding process ratio is 2 to 1🐟
You should bear in mind the East goldfish needs 15 gallons of water space
It's not advisable to overcrowd a goldfish tank or pond for breeding success.

The males is game for battle when it's in spawning Chase, of the females
What's happens for several hours & only if the water conditions are right
While they are together for a few days, the female lays her eggs in batches
Containing 1000 to 1500 eggs per batch per female that the male mates.

The first batch has the highest hatching success rate once the eggs is laid
The males then spray milt all over the eggs to fertilize them. for more fish.

I'm learning as I go with this, so as time goes by I can get better at breeding
to produce more for fish bait profit from stores & people who love to fish &
with 2 fishing area's in my area & 3-4 bait stores I may be able to move them.

Being I love fishing, I have a few ideas on how to get this out to the others 👍
if I can get this going  but this is going to take time to build it where I have
plenty to sell to others, & once I get enough produced I'll be on my mission.

Being there's not a lot of info on this, I have to do all that I can do to make
this go with what info I can get online through videos & any other outlets I
can find or what I can think of on my own, the same way I did with guppies.

Raising Goldfish on a budget "Fishing in the dark" (PT 1)

I guess you're wondering what is this all about ? well my friend
it's all about a little of both, raising goldfish & fishing in the dark.

So what's 1 got to do with the other you ask ? GOOD QUESTION
well this will be a blog about raising Goldfish & fishing in the dark.

What has fishing in the dark got to do with Goldfish you ask ? well
did you know that fishing with Goldfish are good catfish bait? yea
& most people love fishing at night for catfish with Goldfish bait.

So here is the reason why people use Goldfish for catfish bait, color
catfish feed more at night cause they are less detected by other fish
& Goldfish can be seen a lot better at night & catfish love them.

Here are some facts about why anglers love using Goldfish for bait
& you can almost guess most of the reasons but here you have a
good list to know All the facts about the subject at hand on here.

#1 cheap: it is true that goldfish are not that expensive you sure
can you find a store that sells $3 or a dozen goldfish, it's not
exactly the cheapest option considering there are other cheaper
live
bait, it is definitely affordable for most Anglers.

#2 Easy to find: just go to any tackle shop and you may not have
quite an easy time finding a great live bait. But if you just go to
a pet store or a large shopping chain, there are many types of
Goldfish you can find. It is too easy to buy goldfish, making them
quite appealing to anglers in search of a decent live bait to use.

#3 bright attractive colors: as it was mentioned earlier goldfish come
in a variety of colors. Just makes them quite attractive and appealing to
big predators. With their enticing yellow or bright orange bodies, they
Are impossible to miss. Another thing- they offer great action when
placed on a hook, as well as those common minnow baits angler use.

#4 they last for a long time. No matter what form of stress or condition
Goldfish can handle it pretty well for the most part of it. As long as you
keep them well-fed in the Bait Bucket, they will be good to go. Even on
a hook they can sustain stress better than Minnows do in a bucket.
Just remember to put a Air Stone in with them for the air,
every
few hours change the  water out with fresh CLEAN water

It is legal to use goldfish as bait in Arizona, Alabama, Indiana,
Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. in West Virginia
You can use goldfish as long as they are dead Pennsylvania is subject
to a minimum fine of $120 if your caught using goldfish as bait.

Here are a list of states that is illegal to use goldfish as bait.
Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky,
Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire
New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Wyoming.

What fish eat Goldfish as bait? Bass large and small, catfish, crappie,
Trout, walleye,

Not only do Goldfish make a good bait, but is a easy fish to raise too
They are a prolific spawning fish that is also great for bait to raise
so what am I thinking? raising Goldfish for live bait, will it be worth
it? not sure but sure worth a try if I can get them to spawn for me.

This is not to say it's as easy as it shows it to be, but to let you know how
It can be easy to do with just a little work & time and a lot of patience
This is another way I can breed  goldfish where do I can have plenty of fry

So there is my idea what I'm doing as far as raising goldfish for bait & Being
I live not far from a lake and a park that people like to fish in, I think this is a
Great idea to start doing to raise a little side money for fish food other things.

I have a friend it has a yard with no trees that I can put a decent-sized pond
Is, his yard which I think would be another good idea cuz I have too many trees
He is not that far from me that I can go once a week to check on them and so on.

Today's date is 11-1-20/20 and up here in Indiana, it's starting to show winter isn't
that far away. So this is my time to start planning how to do this before spring, but
During the winter season, I will start raising them in the cabin to see how it goes.

With what extra Goldfish I get from the winter season of working with them
If I have any luck at all during the winter I will take what extra goldfish I get
And I will start the new pond  over at my friend's house & see how it goes.

Because what I am looking for is a good batch of goldfish I start out with
next year, right now all I have is 5 goldfish so maybe that will be a good start to
Get going and go from there I have them in 110 gallon stock tank for right now.

So we'll go with what we got see how it does I have another Pond tank outside
That is a triangle shape which is actually a tub that I can use for the five
goldfish that I have and see how they do after I rearrange things in here.

I have a lot of work to be done to get things set up to get this going right if I plan
on making this work the way I'm looking at it and what I'm planning on doing
I have 3- 55 gallon tanks that I have to empty and move out of the area I need.

So with all that said and explained on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it I'll
Let you go for now and keep you updated on how things are going with it all, it
Won't all be on this one page there will be several pages on how things are going.

Thank you for your time & your responses thoughts and wishes I really appreciate
that, and if you have any ideas towards the subject or topic, please feel free & drop
them in the comment box below, as I could use all the help from other breeders.
